Position Summary – Electrical Estimator

*Note - we are relocating from Uxbridge, MA, to Foxboro, MA by the end of the year.

Energy Electric Co., Inc. (EEC) is seeking a skilled Electrical Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical construction projects, from initial bid through final proposal. The Electrical Estimator reviews drawings and specifications, performs takeoffs, solicits subcontractor/vendor pricing, and develops competitive bids that support EEC’s growth and profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Electrical Estimator – Duties

  1. Review project plans, specifications, and electrical drawings to determine scope of work.
  2. Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  3. Conduct quantity take-offs for electrical systems (lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, low voltage, etc.).
  4. Analyze blueprints, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
  5. Identify and evaluate potential risks, value engineering options, and constructability issues.
  6. Solicit and review vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  7. Ensure estimates comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
  8. Prepare bid proposals, budgets, and cost breakdowns for submission.
  9. Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walk-throughs to assess conditions and requirements.
  10. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify scope and resolve design conflicts.
  11. Support project handoff by communicating estimate details and scope clarifications to operations teams.
  12. Stay current on industry pricing trends, materials availability, and labor rates
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Electrical Estimator – Requirements

  1. Proven experience as an electrical estimator in the construction industry.
  2. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, NEC, and construction practices.
  3. Proficiency in electrical estimating software (such as Accubid, McCormick, ConEst, or similar).
  4. Ability to perform detailed material and labor take-offs.
  5. Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
  6. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  7. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
  8. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  9. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
