Controller

A client of ours is looking for an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and provide strategic financial insights. Based in Camden, Delaware, this long-term contract position offers the opportunity to manage financial reporting, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will bring a depth of expertise in accounting processes and leadership to drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities of Controller

• Oversee all aspects of the company’s accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal control standards.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for accuracy and completeness.
• Manage the month-end and year-end close processes.
• Collaborate with external auditors and support annual audit activities.
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Partner with senior leadership to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
• Support ERP implementation, upgrades, and ongoing system optimization.

Skills/Qualifications of Controller

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience working in a publicly traded company required
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and internal controls.
• Knowledgeable in ERP systems – familiarity with ERP QAD is a plus, but candidates with similar ERP experience or general ERP knowledge will be strongly considered.
• Solid understanding of basic ERP functionality and ability to leverage systems to improve accounting processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
