Job Description

NU Laboratories provides the highest quality environmental testing services to support industry, the military, and the government. We specialize in dynamic, high intensity noise, EMI and environmental simulation testing all with providing fast turn around and complete attention to detail. We are currently seeking an EMI Test Technician.

Responsibilities include:

  • Setup and perform electrical tests in accordance with industry standards using applicable software, instrumentation, LISNs, antennas, amplifiers and other RF equipment.
  • Record and prepare test data/logs for customer reports
  • Review test procedures and reports for accuracy
  • Maintain safe test environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintenance of the test facility and equipment. Perform equipment calibrations to in-house procedures, sometimes software-assisted

Preferred skills and qualifications:

  • A 2 year technical degree or associates degree is desired with direct, hands on experience in EMC/EMI testing in accordance with industry standards or 5 years of EMC/EMI testing in experience accordance with industry standards will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Familiarity with test equipment, especially RF related
  • Understanding of basic RF concepts and unit conversions, use of logarithmic equations
  • Familiarity with TILE! EMC software and/or Labview is a plus
  • Working knowledge of GPIB instrumentation control
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of PCs and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word/Excel/Visio
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills
  • Strong desire to work within a team environment
  • Strong commitment to ensuring accuracy and timeliness, attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with EMC standards, ideally MIL-STD-461(F/G) and MIL-STD-1399 (section 300B/300 part 1/407/70 part 1) power quality and DC Magnetics testing.
