Position Overview

We’re seeking a Junior Associate Attorney to join our litigation and criminal defense team. This is an entry-level role ideal for a recent law school graduate or new attorney looking to gain hands-on courtroom experience, develop litigation skills, and work directly with senior attorneys on active cases.

The position offers a creative pay structure designed to reward effort, results, and initiative. In addition to an hourly base rate between $29 and $33 per hour , the role includes opportunities for:

• Performance-based bonuses tied to case outcomes, billable targets, or successful motion practice.
• Client development incentives for bringing in or assisting with new matters.
• Trial participation stipends for courtroom or hearing appearances.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist lead attorneys in all phases of litigation and criminal defense, from intake to trial.
• Conduct legal research, draft motions, discovery responses, memoranda, and pleadings.
• Appear in court for motion hearings, status conferences, and other proceedings (under supervision as appropriate).
• Participate in client meetings, witness interviews, and case strategy sessions.
• Manage case files, track deadlines, and maintain organized documentation.
• Support senior counsel in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions.
• Contribute to firm-wide initiatives, including community outreach and marketing efforts.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.).
• Admitted (or pending admission) to the Massachusetts Bar (New Hampshire admitted attorneys is a major check mark in your favor!)
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
• A sense of humor, resilience, and a desire to learn from every case and client.
• Prior internship or clinical experience in litigation, criminal law, or public defense preferred but not required.
