Overview This position performs supervisory, administrative, and technical duties directing the activities of the Solid Waste Division. Responsibilities include developing and implementing daily operational plans and standard operating procedures; and developing and implementing short and long term strategies that result in the environmental and financial sustainability of the City’s solid waste operation. The role includes the investigation and inspection of rules and regulations pertaining to the storage, collection, and disposal of solid waste, including compliance pertaining to illegal placement of garbage cans, recycling bins, trash, and debris in alleys or rights of way. The position conducts accident and safety incident investigations in conjunction with Risk Management. It manages customer service experiences, handles complaints and inquiries, supervises waste division crews, assists with budget preparation, and acts on behalf of the Public Works Assistant Director in their absence. The incumbent uses independent judgment under the general direction of the Department Director. Use independent judgment under the general direction of the Department Director. Qualifications Associate’s degree required. Five (5) years of responsible experience managing waste collection and disposal of solid waste, recyclables, and trash, including routing. Ability to obtain Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) Certification. Valid Florida Driver's License.
