Job Description Job Description Salary: $70,000-90,000 dependent on experience Summary: UNEX Manufacturing, a family-owned manufacturing company with a long record of success, currently has an opening for a Continuous Improvement Engineer at our Lakewood, NJ location. This position is primarily responsible for providing plant engineering support for the routine daily operation by performing the following duties. Reports To: Vice President of Operations Key Responsibilities: Core responsibilities include the following; however additional duties may be assigned as dictated by business need: Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs. Assesses new part requests and change orders for manufacturability. Improves manufacturing efficiency and safety by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment. Prepares process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Research, develop and implement solutions for long term reliability with current machinery in the factory. Research, develop and implement new processes, equipment, and products. Ensuring manufacturing processes, equipment, and products comply with safety standards and legal regulations. Education and/or experience: Bachelors degree (B.S.) in Engineering from four-year college or university; or 5 years related experience 3-5 years related experience Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree Professional Skills/Qualifications: Continuous improvement mindset Design for manufacturing and assembly methods Punch processing and laser sheet metal processing Material handling and conveyance product knowledge. Fluent in Solidworks, Solidworks PDM and AutoCAD. Understanding of blueprint layouts and tolerancing methods ERP/MRP software experience to create and alter parts, assemblies, BOMs and routers. Technical writing skills for process documentation and proposal writing Measuring equipment such as calipers, tape measures, load cells Programming machines with ladder logic, C++ or other languages. Preferred Qualifications: Lean manufacturing credentials Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint & Teams CAD/CAM software SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Simulation software ERP/MRP software Physical Demands: This role requires a combination of sitting, standing, walking, stooping and kneeling as well as the occasional need to move or lift objects up to 50 pounds. Good vision, including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, is important to perform the essential duties of this job. Work Environment: While its very quiet in the office environment, visits to the factory may require hearing protection and safety glasses.
