This is a benefited, part time position (40 hours every 2 weeks) generally working 6- or 8-hr day shifts. Hours will vary as needed. No weekends, holidays, or nights. Potential opportunity to pick up additional shifts. Located at Scripps Clinic in Torrey Pines (La Jolla). Required to float to other sites as needed.

What you'll do: 

\n
• Assist in Orthopedic Surgery & Pain Management departments
\n
• Scribing/Starting Notes for Providers

\n
• Ordering

\n
• Documentation of Patient Encounters

\n
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology, Spine Preferred

\n
• Rooming patients

\n
• Checking vitals

\n
• Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols

\n
• Assisting in procedures
\n
• Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment

\n
• Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice

\n
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person

\n
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone

\n
• Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review

\n
• Complete and accurate message taking

\n
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction

\n
• Basic registration and updating of demographics
\n

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

\n
• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program, or Medical Assistance Certification, or a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman
\n

Required Certification/Registration:

\n
• BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)
\n

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:

\n
• One year of experience as a MA in an outpatient setting
\n
• Previous experience in Orthopedic Surgery
\n
• Pain management experience
\n
• Experience in sterile technique
\n

Position Pay Range: $24.91-$31.45/hour
