We are seeking Portuguese Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Both Brazilian Portuguese and European Portuguese speakers are encouraged to apply, as USCIS requires coverage across multiple dialects.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time Portuguese English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and immigration proceedings.
- Interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and confidentiality.
- Adhere to USCIS/DHS compliance and professional standards.
- Manage scheduled assignments as well as urgent/surge requests.
- Participate in required training, compliance refreshers, and QA audits.
Qualifications
- Native or near-native fluency in Portuguese (Brazilian or European) and English.
- 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, government, or medical preferred).
- Familiarity with interpreter ethics and confidentiality standards (NCIHC, ATA, RID).
- Strong telephone communication and cultural competency skills.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 security clearance.
