Job Description

Optomi, in partnership with a global media conglomerate, is seeking a Project Manager in a hybrid position in Burbank, CA. This Project Manager will support post-production teams with a wide range of technology initiatives. This candidate will preferably have background in media/entertainment industries.

  • 3+ years pf experience managing a diverse portfolio of projects reflecting a wide range of technologies, complexities, and duration.
  • Experience in helping manage cross-functional technical teams, including architects, infrastructure and data engineers, software developers, system reliability engineers, storage engineers, audio/visual or post-production engineers to meet expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing multiple tasks and organizing and prioritizing work effectively, in a constantly evolving and rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent meeting facilitation skills and effective team player.
  • Extensive experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet and Jira.
  • Ability to develop and present business cases via PowerPoint or Keynote.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to create workflow drawings and process maps utilizing Lucidchart.

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience working in a Content Creation/Production environment.
  • Experience working in media, entertainment, or studio / production environments.
  • Experienced with Business Intelligence tools such as MS Power BI.
  • PMP certification a plus.
  • Certified Scrum Master a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead multiple concurrent shows and technology initiatives throughout their lifecycle. This includes project intake, use case definition, charter and scope definition, project plan development, capacity allocations, resource assignment, project execution, and postmortems.
  • Manage tasks and resources through waterfall, scrum, or kanban methodologies. Lead coordination with other project managers and business resources to assign tasks to the studio technology engineers and ensure tasks are completed by production timeline.
  • Prioritize and escalate critical operational tasks, execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. Lead calls with productions based on the phase of the show: pre-production, production, and post-production.
  • Assist in communicating needs, break fixes, and issues that productions have to technology engineers to deliver/fix.
  • Establish, track, and report on project progress (key tasks and milestones), risks, and issues to engineering management, program management, and stakeholders.
  • Leverage business intelligence applications (e.g., PowerBI) for executive reporting; utilize KPIs to assess program, project, sprint planning, and resource velocity health; and lead corrective actions as required.
  • Apply analytical and critical thinking to identify team inefficiencies and risk areas and implement projects or processes to improve operations.
  • Create workflow diagrams of production technology processes and identify opportunities to streamline processes or improve efficiency.
