Public Relations Manager Location Hybrid work in Walworth, WI :

As we expand our event portfolio, we seek a dynamic and experienced Public Relations Manager to join our team. This position is a Hybrid position.

Position Overview: We seek a proactive and strategic Public Relations Manager to lead and oversee Mecum Auctions' communications efforts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for shaping and maintaining a positive public image of Mecum Auctions through effective media engagement, strategic messaging, and crisis communication planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Mecum Auctions' overall communications strategy and messaging framework.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with national mainstream media outlets.
  • Engage with auto and motorcycle industry associations to foster partnerships and amplify brand presence.
  • Develop, coordinate, and oversee the schedule for creating and distributing media releases.
  • Lead the development of Mecum Auctions' media kit components, ensuring they are comprehensive and up-to-date.
  • Oversee the drafting, editing, and distribution of media releases and advisories to ensure clarity, consistency, and media readiness.
  • Maintain and update media databases, tracking media contacts and outreach efforts.
  • Develop and execute media stunts and promotional events centered around significant collections and consignments to generate publicity.
  • Prepare “talking points” and key messaging for Mecum Auctions' representatives during media interviews.
  • Manage media requests for photos of Mecum Auctions' consignments and auction events.
  • Develop and implement a crisis communications strategy to address potential issues proactively.
  • Provide media training and media interview preparation support for Mecum Auctions' representatives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in public relations, media, or communications, preferably in the automotive or auction industries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong media network and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines.
  • Strategic thinker with crisis management capabilities.
  • Experience in media training and messaging development.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
