Surgery Scheduler at United Surgical Partners International, Inc The Surgery Scheduler plans and schedules for surgical and related appointments for doctors. Manages functions related to credentialing of professional staff for the facility by performing the duties below. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintains master schedule to ensure coordination between doctors, anesthesia, lab and insurance carriers. Schedules surgeries and coordinates the schedule between the Surgery Center and doctors' offices. Gathers detailed patient information for the chart (procedure type, supplies, special equipment, insurance information, etc.) and enters all patient information in the computer system. Schedules all surgical anesthesia services according to doctor preference and availability. Ensures pre-certification and referrals are in order for the Insurance Coordinator. Confers with OR Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse and/or Administrator to determine surgery status and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions. Provides relief for the front business office and other business functions as needed. Cross-trained to fill in and perform other job descriptions as required. Interacts appropriately with patients and others regardless of age or ethnicity. Initiates safe practices and follows center policies and procedures related to pain management, abuse and neglect, sentinel events, variance reporting, root cause analysis, and related procedures. Assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills. Follows equipment safety guidelines and is responsible for the use and care of business equipment. Qualifications Minimum 2-4 years of hospital or medical office experience required. ASC surgery scheduling experience preferred. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to communicate verbally and non-verbally in a professional manner. Ability to use time wisely in preparing the work area to meet high-paced demand. Shows a genuine desire to work and contribute to hospital improvement. Strong medical terminology. Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills.
