  • Schedule: Monday - Friday
  • Compensation: Rate depending on experience
General Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Activities Director position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Activity Department. This role ensures that an ongoing program of activities meets the interests and physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of each resident in accordance with current federal, state, local, and corporate standards, regulations, and guidelines.

Essential Duties:
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct resident-centered activities for the facility.
  • Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards.
  • Ensure effective communication between employees at all levels, residents, families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to meet the needs of residents and the community.
  • Participate in community planning related to resident interests and facility services.
  • Participate in facility surveys conducted by authorized government agencies.
  • Assist in reviewing and developing plans of correction for activity deficiencies noted during inspections and provide written reports to the Administrator.
  • Participate in regular meetings, including General Staff, Department Head, Quality Improvement, Quality Assurance (TEAM, Infection Control), Safety Committee, Marketing, Family, and Resident Council.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee in developing and implementing plans of action to correct identified quality deficiencies.
  • Participate in discharge planning and the development of activity care plans and resident assessments.
  • Arrange transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharges as necessary.
  • Develop a monthly activity schedule that includes outings, group activities, and in-room activities for bed-bound or isolated residents.
  • Encourage participation in self-initiated activities including hobbies, crafts, and reading, providing materials as necessary (e.g., Braille or audio books).
  • Ensure all charted activity progress notes are informative and descriptive of services provided and resident responses.
Supervisory Requirements:
  • Assist with the overall supervision and management of the activity staff.
Qualifications:
  • Education/Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Preferably one year of experience in a long-term care facility.
