As a Senior Food Scientist, you will leverage your extensive experience to lead the design, development, and scale-up of innovative food and beverage concepts utilizing teas, herbals, and health & wellness ingredients. This role offers the opportunity to drive strategic growth initiatives, provide technical expertise, and support the entire organization in delivering high-quality innovative solutions.

This role is based in Secaucus, NJ.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of food and beverage formulations, highlighting Martin Bauer’s ingredients.
• Drive process development, project management, and provide technical assistance to the manufacturing plants within the company.
• Collaborate with Sales and customers on the development and production of new and existing items.
• Develop prototypes to target specific customers.
• Oversee Operations to troubleshoot, meet specifications, improve efficiencies, and reduce costs for new and existing products.
• Interact with internal teams in the US, providing guidance, solving problems, and sharing ideas.
• Ensure compliance with Quality and Regulatory guidelines and requirements.
• Operate and maintain lab equipment, and manage the stock of ingredients and samples in the laboratory.
• Stay up to date on applicable regulatory requirements that affect the company and its customers.
• Manage the preparation of regulatory filings and submission of permit applications and renewals to external agencies.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in food science, Chemistry, Food or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in food science or a related industry.
• Working knowledge of SAP software.
• Proven experience in hands-on laboratory development, formulation design, and food ingredient applications.
• Direct knowledge and work experience with botanical ingredients emphasizing teas, herbals, and health & wellness ingredients is preferred. Experience in Food Service applications is a plus.
• Strong understanding of formulating food products that deliver healthy and nutritional benefits.
• Ability to optimize the impact of functional plant-based ingredients on taste, texture, and stability.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify causes and solutions.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and understanding of mathematics and scientific concepts are essential.
• Ability to build strong, trusted working relationships at all levels and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Must be able and willing to travel, local and overnight.

Compensation range:

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is listed, however, pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including bonus.
