This position is based in Lake Benton in southwest Minnesota, working for the Lake Benton I wind farm. The rural setting offers small-town charm, a large lake for recreation or fishing, and horseback riding and hiking trails in the nearby Hole-in-the-Mountain Park on Buffalo Ridge. Under direct supervision, performs entry-level preventative maintenance and repair activities on wind turbines, consistent with company quality guidelines and other company policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to learn the aspects of defect detection and repair of the wind turbines and heavy equipment (crane) rigging and directing. Close attention to safety required, plus working safely to protect self and others at all times through knowledge of and adherence to company safety rules.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Preference may be given to applicants that have completed a wind technician training program.
No experience required. Preference may be given to candidates with technical wind industry or technical experience working with hydraulic, electrical and mechanical maintenance.
This position will report regularly in person to Lake Benton MN. Valid Driver's license and DOT Medical Certificate and ability to maintain them required. Must be able to meet the typical Physical/Mental/Environmental demands of the position: This is a very physically active job done outdoors in all kinds of weather. You will need to be able to climb, carry up to 100 pounds, and at times work in cramped positions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; particulate matter, loud noise levels, risk of electrical shock, and occasionally exposed to hazardous chemicals. Requires excellent communication skills. Possess the ability to read and have a basic understanding of operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and diagrams. Basic knowledge of the use and care of of various hand tools and equipment utilized in this position. This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
The expected hourly compensation range for this position is $23.10 - $28.40. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
